Atlanta – As lawmakers return to the State Capitol one of Georgia’s leading conservative groups has issued its legislative priorities.  The Georgia Christian Coalition released details of its “Keeping Faith with Georgia” legislative agenda.  Jim Beck, a volunteer, who serves as President of the Georgia Christian Coalition said, “Some in the liberal media have declared that their will be little attention paid to our issues this session- they have been wrong in the past and they will be wrong in 2007.” According to Beck, “This session the Georgia Christian Coalition will continue to work to meet our core missions of protecting life and standing for biblical values”.

1- Protecting Life

Allow Georgia to vote on a constitutional amendment to restore legal protection for all human beings from the moment of fertilization.

Pass legislation that requires an ultrasound be performed on each unborn child before an abortion.  Require the mother of the unborn child to be allowed to review the ultra sound.

2- Banning Human Cloning

Prevent human cloning from embryos through the ‘somatic cell nuclear transfer” method.

3- Allowing for Faith Based Services

Pass Governor Sonny Perdue’s Faith and Family Services Legislation.

4- Preserving the Integrity of the Ballot Box

Adopt a Photo ID bill while creating a paper trail for voting machines.

5- Empowering Parents

Allow the parents of children with special needs to send their children to any school that meets their needs.

Require that a father be notified before a mother can surrender her rights or transfer custody of a child to a third party.

6- Supporting the Traditional Family

Adopt legislation that supports the traditional family.

7- Insuring Equal Access to Internet Information/Services

Protect access to information via the statewide cable and internet franchising bill.
